The ongoing 2025 government shutdown has caused slowdowns and stoppages to many government services that people depend on – the most recent of these is the SNAP program.

Local ABC news reports that as many as 3.5 million Texans will be without SNAP benefits in November 2025 due to the government shutdown. This will certainly cause more stress on families who depend on SNAP to avoid food insecurity during times of financial hardship.

Every day at Jackson Spencer Law, we talk to Texas residents who are unemployed or about to become unemployed, so we know the financial stress this can cause for families. If you or someone you know is in this situation, we’ve pulled together a list of food pantries all across the state to help you locate the resources you need.

Quick advice: we recommend checking pantry schedules (North Texas Food Bank, Tarrant Area Food Bank, Houston Food Bank, Central Texas Food Bank) before visiting and, if possible, bring a photo ID and proof of address.
